ADI released the production version of DocGen for Preferred Homecare on October 23rd. The
application's first dynamic generation of medical documents includes OXY and WVO certificates of
medical necessity. This software application has drastically improved the proficiency PHC employees
had using the manual methods of submitting critical documents to physicians. It has also raised the
level of care, not to mention medical communication, regarding patients.
|
:: 07.17.2007 ::
ADI begins the requirement and design phases for PHC's latest needs: the ability to automate forms and documents. The
new application, dubbed DocGen, is responsible for creating, faxing and tracking certificates for medical needs.

:: 07.16.2007 ::
ADI completes version 2.0 of the Preferred Homecare Order System. Improvements include an enhanced user
interface, exception reports for orders that failed to meet state guidelines, and faster performance.

ADI enters an agreement with Software Management Consultants, Inc. (SMCI) and Preferred HomeCare (PHC) to analyze business
practices for Preferred HomeCare and develop software applications that address Preferred HomeCare's business needs.
First up is the design and implementation of the PHC Order System: an application that allows automated and re-occurring
orders of PHC's products.

Most software projects and those businesses that base their existence on software projects, fail. In fact, The Standish
Group International Inc. reports that more than 80% are unsuccessful -- either because they are over budget, late,
missing functions or a combination of all three. Moreover, 30% of software projects are so poorly executed that they
are canceled before completion.
Stunning statistics, and not what you would expect to find on a web site that is basically the store front for a
business providing such services. What would be more frightening is dealing with an organization either unaware of
the frailty or one that doesn’t care or doesn’t know how to address the many pitfalls facing software development
in today’s world. We present those numbers to you because we have developed a process that ensures success rather
than turning a blind eye to the potential for failure.
Our process overcomes these obstacles because of the following:
- Skilled and experienced people are the difference maker. Tools help,
but they are not the saving grace; no, the saving grace is people who can properly perform the roles
of business analysts, project managers, leads and programmers. We have those people.
- We use “leading-edge” technology rather than “bleeding-edge”. The
line separating the two is quite thin, and it is often the aforementioned people who define where
that line exists rather than the software tool itself.
- Unlike most software development companies who use one system development
life cycle model, we implement three models; one of which we'll use that is most relevant for a given
project (learn more at our approach). Having this type of flexibility
and capability enables ADI to protect our clients against budget over-runs and unrealistic deadlines that
are so common with current software ventures.
- While tools may not be the saving grace, implementation of the proper ones is
critical. The proper tools should be leading-edge, placing your applications above your competition while
also providing stability and dependability. For those of us developing your application those tools should
lead to better productivity saving you time and money. As a result of this our clients are limited to those
who will let us utilize Visual Studio.Net and .Net technologies with SQL Server as a backend.
- We back-up everything. From the documents generated by gathering requirements
to the source code itself all of it is stored in a source-control management system. This allows us to recover
should a failure occur, but more importantly it allows you to revert to previous versions without costing you
more should you decide the changes you requested weren’t what you really wanted.
- There are no shots in the dark at ADI, and our estimates are not guess-work while those
of other companies commonly overshoot their estimated schedules by anywhere from 25% to 100%. That is an incredible
disparity that simply should not be. An estimate is the foundation from which we work and you build your expectations.
Without an accurate schedule estimate, that foundation is cracked. Any cracks make it impossible to effectively
plan, and puts not only the application but the businesses themselves in jeopardy. Knowing this, we developed
a method created by our experience in the industry that gets us within no less than 10% of our target goal. That
keeps you right on track.
- Before you can run, you must walk. Going to New York is great, but in order to reach
that destination you must break the trip into short distances (motel stays, dining, etc.). Everyone knows this,
yet long-term goals are often created in the software industry without the definition of shorter ones. This makes
it easy to become bogged down, lose direction or unknowingly cause errors that ultimately come back to haunt you.
To prevent this ADI first defines the end-goal, and then fills in the distance between the starting and ending points.
The advantages to this are improved direction, status reporting, and a fine-grain control that prevents something being
missed while also improving motivation due to the fact a goal is reached every other day or so versus that feeling of
“am I ever going to get there?” created by the longer-term goals with no short ones.
- We track the time spent by everyone on a project in every phase of a project: analysis, design,
implementation, testing, and debugging. This assists us in accurately making estimates on future projects. It also gives
us the ability to provide our clients with an exact breakdown of what time was spent where: something which is critical
to our billing department and your bottom line. Timely comparisons of actual hours spent versus estimated hours has
saved more than one project from extending a deadline as it informs us adjustments must be made if the timeline is not
being met.
- Accountability, vision and support: ADI takes each seriously. Our executive officers
provide vision while supporting our team of developers by obtaining and controlling the resources needed to meet the
project’s demands that are ciphered by our analysts. We hold ourselves accountable in every aspect. ADI has never,
nor will it ever, pass the so-called the buck unto our clients when something didn’t go as planned.

efficient and easier to handle.
